Among the Brazilians, the following will be on stage: Adriana Barbosa, CEO of “Preta HUB” and “Instituto Feira Preta”; Ailton Krenak, writer, activist and the first indigenous person to be immortalized by the ABL; Camila Farani, one of the main angel investors in Brazil; Ivair Gontijo, NASA mining engineer; Monja Coen, Buddhist spiritual leader; Marcelo Gleiser, physicist and winner of the Templeton Prize; Sidarta Ribeiro, neuroscientist and biologist; and, among hundreds of other speakers, such as businesswomen and influencers Larissa Manoela, Sabrina Sato, Mari Maria and Jade Picon.

“RIW remains committed to building a society in which technology is a tool that allows everyone to access the opportunities it offers. Our project, as a collective, must be to build a future in which inclusion is the norm, diversity is celebrated and social justice is guaranteed”, highlights Bruna Reis, executive director of Rio Innovation Week.

New segments gain prominence at RIW

This edition included new partners, such as G20, UN Global Compact, B2Mamy (digital community of mothers), BRIFW (digital fashion, art and beauty), Humanare – Organizational Human Development, Planetiers – Environmental Sustainability and Science for All (curated by Marcelo Gleiser). Since the first edition of the event, these thematic segments have been growing exponentially, since RIW began with only 12 simultaneous stages.

During Rio Innovation Week, delegations from the G20, a meeting that brings together the world’s largest economic powers to be held in Brazil in 2024, will discuss issues related to climate and the fight against hunger, poverty and inequality. The UN Global Compact – Rede Brasil, a group of companies committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universal principles in the areas of human rights, labor, the environment and anti-corruption, will also be at RIW with a broad program over the four days.

Another unique feature of this edition is the arrival of B2Mamy, the largest community of mothers in Brazil. Relevant debates on inclusion in the job market, entrepreneurship and challenges with atypical children, from the perspective of journalist and writer Daiana Garbin, will be part of the program.

In an unprecedented partnership, RIW will welcome BRIFW to curate the fashion, beauty and digital art pavilion, with the aim of providing the public with a space with tools, projects, brands and artists who think about the future of fashion, beauty and culture in an innovative way. Among them is the artist Gabriel Massan, who designed the digital art for the stage of pop star Madonna’s The Celebration tour.

Social, environmental and economic impact of 2.6 billion in business

Holding RIW generates 20 thousand direct and indirect jobs, has the participation of 2,500 startups and aims to generate more than R$2.6 billion in business, with more than 150 thousand that will pass through Píer Mauá during the four days of the event. For 2024, the event will gain even more strength, having so far 19 sponsors, 29 partners and 350 exhibitors.

The 100th edition of Open Innovation Week (Oiweek), the main meeting of the open innovation community created by 100 Open Startups, will also take place at Rio Innovation Week, this time in partnership with Sai do Papel, in a pavilion entirely dedicated to Open Innovation and Startups. The meeting is responsible for bringing together professionals to share knowledge, co-create solutions and generate business opportunities in innovation. The goal of 100 Open Startups is that more than 10,000 connections will be initiated over the four days of Oiweek SdP, which will also feature lectures, panels, reverse pitches and presentations of open innovation cases.

For the first time, RIW will be 100% decarbonized: Serena, a global company that is a reference in clean energy, will guarantee complete decarbonization. In addition to offsetting CO2 emissions through carbon credits, the company will also voluntarily promote the neutralization of participants’ travel to the space, with the issuance of the decarbonization certificate from the United Nations (UN). The Urbam Group will manage RIW’s waste, using technology to ensure the cleaning and recycling of materials.

With the pillars of Business, Knowledge and Experience, a significant number of tickets for the largest innovation and technology conference in the world will be reserved for democratizing access, free of charge.

“Our social responsibility is precisely to democratize access to technology and innovation. That is why we provide a significant percentage of social passports. As for the speakers, we have a curator who carries out meticulous work with the aim of highlighting, in the more than 30 conferences, diverse themes and personalities, enriching the exchange of knowledge and experiences with the audience present”, says Fábio Queiróz, director of Rio Innovation Week.
